Dr. Pooja Mehrotra, DDS
Owner/Dentist
Dr. Pooja Mehrotra has been doing dentistry for 10 years in the USA. Before coming to the USA, Dr. Pooja Mehrotra was a dentist in India. After graduating from New York University College of Dentistry, she lived and worked in four states. Dr. Pooja Mehrotra gathered wisdom, philosophies, and the culture of different dental settings from great mentors – some of whom are still in touch and a phone call away for complex cases – and along with extensive continuous education in different disciplines of dentistry, including oral surgery, endodontics, cosmetic dentistry, Invisalign and laser.

Dr. Richard P. Jacob, DMD
Founder/Dentist/Retired
Dr. Jacob started his family dentistry practice in Lancaster in 1983. Since then, he’s served the community by providing great customer service and by changing the way we smile every day. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Scranton with a degree in biology and also has a Master’s degree in biochemistry. Dr. Jacob then attended the University of Pittsburgh, where he received his DMD. He is a member of the North Carolina Dental Society and the Tri-County Dental Society.
Dr. Ashok Gorrepati
Dentist
Dr. Ashok Gorrepati, a distinguished alumnus of New York University College of Dentistry, brings a wealth of experience to our dental clinic. With five years of dedicated service in Minnesota, he relocated to South Carolina in 2022.
Driven by a passion for comprehending patients' needs, he prioritizes educating them on the crucial aspects of oral health.
Beyond the dental chair, Dr. Gorrepati finds joy in family life with his wife and two children. An avid traveler during leisure, his commitment extends beyond the clinic, embodying a holistic approach to both professional and personal well-being.
Berenice
Dental Assistant
Berenice Tapia was raised in Lancaster, SC. She has been working with Dr. Pooja for 7 years. While attending college, she worked part-time and began her career as a dental assistant. Over time, dentistry grew on her, leading her to deeply appreciate the connections she made with patients and the opportunity to assist with their dental needs. Through her persistence and dedication, as well as the outstanding education and training provided by Dr. Pooja, Berenice worked her way up to the position of Regional Manager. In her free time, she enjoys spending moments with her family, friends, and her fur babies. She also has a passion for choreographing dances.
Paloma Mendoza
Dental Assistant
Paloma Mendoza was born and raised here in Lancaster, SC. She is passionate about dentistry and treating and helping her community. She loves to see the patients' satisfaction after they get their dental work completed. A beautiful smile means a lot to her, and she knows how important it is for everyone else. She is one of our dental assistants, and she helps Dr.Pooja with operations and makes sure the patients are always satisfied. She looks forward to working at Sun Dental with her amazing colleagues and continuing to help out her community to keep and maintain a healthy smile. When Paloma is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, which includes her parents and two younger sisters. She has a special place in her heart for her first fur baby, Blue. He was a sweet, loving Husky that sadly passed away in July, 2023. Since then, Benji, her new puppy, has actively mended her heartstrings.
Irina Fridman
Dental Assistant
My name is Irina Fridman. I came originally from Ukraine in 1991 and speak English and Ukrainian languages. I have been working in the dental field for over 25 years. Starting as a dental assistant, I took other positions in the office with time. This gave me an opportunity to learn different areas of this trade and grow. In 2020, I moved to Lancaster to work with Dr. Pooja Mehrotra, and I love it to this day! Dr. Pooja Mehrotra is an experienced, Knowledgeable and caring dentist. She is recognized and appreciated by the local community. I enjoy being part of her team and working with wonderful people and skilled, valued, thoughtful doctors. I go home with a great feeling of accomplishment, knowing that so many people were helped and taken care of.
